The College of Arts and Sciences – General Education Department (CAS-GED) of the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) conducted a Seminar-Workshop on Flipped Classroom Implementation on February 19, 2026, at the CBSUA-Pili Alvaro Rabina Hall to enhance learner-centered and technology-driven teaching practices among faculty members.
Led by CAS-GED Chairperson Dr. Rolando P. Oloteo, the activity gathered faculty members from various disciplines within the CAS department to strengthen innovative instructional strategies aligned with contemporary educational frameworks.
Campus Administrator Dr. Allan B. Del Rosario underscored the university’s support for innovative and learner-centered instruction, supporting CBSUA’s commitment to academic excellence. Resource speaker Assistant Professor Anton A. Romero then introduced the flipped classroom model, highlighting its approach of delivering lecture materials outside class to maximize in-class time for collaborative learning, critical discussions, and higher-order thinking activities.
Meanwhile, Assistant Professor Romero emphasized the four pillars of the flipped classroom approach, including flexible learning environments, student-centered learning, intentional content design, and the educator’s role as facilitator, citing its proven effectiveness in promoting critical thinking, collaboration, digital literacy, and active classroom engagement.
Dr. Rey-Mark G. Basagre, Director of the University and Curricular Reforms and Development Office (UCRDO), affirmed the approach’s alignment with the university’s curriculum framework, particularly in integrating theory, practice, and blended learning modalities.
The workshop concluded with faculty presentations of course-based outputs featuring aligned pre-class materials, interactive in-class strategies, and assessment plans.
