The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), in partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Provincial Office of Camarines Sur II, empowered agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) through a Bookkeeping and Accounting for Cooperatives training held at the CBSUA Agriville and Learning Hub on July 23, 2026, equipping them with essential financial management skills to strengthen their cooperatives.
Thirty representatives from 26 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries’ Organizations (ARBOs) attended the training conducted through Project KITA (Kabuhayan sa Inobasyon at Teknolohiya para sa Agraryo) under the Agrarian Reform Governance for Resilience, Economics, and Enterprise Development (AGREE) and the CBSUA Agrivoltaic Programs. Sessions covered bookkeeping, accounting, financial record-keeping, and the preparation of basic financial reports to improve the financial management capabilities of ARBOs.
Ms. Eloisa Joyce S. Igno, Administrative Officer V, served as the resource speaker and discussed bookkeeping fundamentals, accounting principles, and financial management practices for cooperative operations. The sessions included lectures and practical exercises on cash receipts and disbursement journals, maintaining ledgers, and developing financial statements, enabling participants to apply the concepts discussed during the training.
The activity was spearheaded by Engr. Dulce Maria Abigail Alto Jastio, Program Leader of the AGREE Program, who emphasized the role of sound financial management in strengthening farmers’ organizations. She also noted that the training supports the objectives of the CBSUA Agrivoltaic Program by integrating financial literacy and enterprise management with climate-smart agriculture, renewable energy, and sustainable agri-enterprise development.
