The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture, Department of Environment And Natural Resources, and partner private firms, inaugurated the Adopt an Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station on March 30, 2023.
This is in pursuant to Republic Act 8749, known as the “Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999” which aims to monitor the air quality in the country and expand the Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Network.
University President Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, welcomed the guests and expressed his support for the undertaking. Engr. Gilbert C. Gonzales, Ceso III, Director And Concurrent Assistant Secretary For Field Operations, Environmental Management Bureau; Francisco E. Milla, Jr., Ceso III, Regional Executive Director, DENR ROV; and Engr. Maria Socorro A. Abu, PhD, Regional Director, EMB V, delivered their opening remarks.
Messages of support from the adopters were also given during the opening ceremony.
The guests and adopters then proceeded to the AQMS Site. The Inauguration Ceremony proper took place with the blessing, ribbon cutting, and unveiling of the plaque.
