CBSUA ENHANCES FARMER SKILLS THROUGH RUMINANT AND FORAGE PRODUCTION TRAINING

On April 18, 2026, the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) conducted a Training-Workshop on Forage Production and Ruminant Production at the Tinangis Upland Farmers Agriculture Cooperative (TUFAC) in Tinangis, Pili, Camarines Sur.

The activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of local farmers in livestock production, particularly in improving ruminant management and forage utilization. Faculty members from the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR), under the Department of Animal Science (DAS), served as resource speakers during the lecture sessions and shared their expertise on key topics relevant to livestock production. Ruminant Feeding was discussed by Neil Cordenete, faculty member of CANR. Ruminant Housing and Sanitation was presented by Joseph B. Nieva, Head of DAS. Meanwhile, the Prospects of Ruminant Production was tackled by Angelo Francis F. Atole, PhD, CANR faculty member and extension project leader. The topic on Health and Diseases of Ruminants was delivered by Dr. Czarina Mae A. Acuña, faculty member of the College of Veterinary Medicine.

The training was attended by members of TUFAC together with their officers, including Josephine Violeta, Chairman of TUFAC, and Edith Vina Napagal, Secretary of the cooperative. Hon. Maria Mercedita C. Violeta, member of the Sangguniang Bayan of Pili, Camarines Sur, was also present during the activity.
