The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), in partnership with Carmel Agri-Learning Farm Inc., conducted a Skills Training on Organic Small Ruminant Production on June 23–24, 2026, at Carmel Agri-Learning Farm Inc., Zone 4, Binanuanan, Pili, Camarines Sur.
The training brought together farmers, livestock raisers, and individuals interested in expanding their knowledge and skills in organic small ruminant farming, particularly in the production and management of goats and sheep.
Serving as resource speaker was Carmencita I. Portugal, faculty member of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) under the Animal Science Department of CBSUA. She discussed key concepts and practices in organic small ruminant production, including breed selection, feeding management, animal health care, reproduction, housing requirements, pasture development, and animal welfare standards.
Throughout the two-day training, participants gained a deeper understanding of the principles of organic livestock farming and its role in promoting environmental sustainability, reducing production costs, and ensuring the production of safe and healthy livestock products.
The activity reflects CBSUA’s continuing commitment to providing extension services and capacity-building opportunities that empower farmers and agricultural stakeholders while supporting sustainable and resilient farming communities. | 𝘙𝘦𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘙𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘭 𝘕.
