CBSUA, LIWAD INK MOA ON PALONG WATERSHED DEVELOPMENT

A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Libmanan Water District (LIWAD) and the Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) was collectively signed on September 12, 2022 at Josefa’s by Tata Tiama, Puro-batia, Libmanan to give full support to the development of the Palong Watershed area in Libmanan, Camarines Sur, by providing advance research in agriculture and technological support and undertake extension programs along with agricultural sustainability, environmental protection, and community development in the target area.

This MOA signing was graced by the presence of the following Hon. Rodolfo A. Jimenez, Jr. – General Manager of LIWAD, Dr. Ramona Isabel S. Ramirez – CBSUA: Vice President for Research and Innovation, Hon. Jesus F. Camara – Municipal Mayor of Libmanan, Forester Angelito Estacio – Chief Monitoring Enforcement Section of DENR-CENRO Sipocot (Representative of Mr. Eduardo C. Ampongan, CENR Officer), Hon. Jose J. San Buenaventura – Chairperson, Committee on Environment Protection and Disaster Risk Reduction, Hon. Edelson M. Marfil – Chairperson, Committee on Public Utilities, Director Ferdinand J. Osio, Sr. – Chairperson of LIWAD, Dr. Vladimir R. Foronda -CBSUA: Extension Services Division Director, and Dr. Aries O. Ativo, CBSUA: Research Services Division Director.

CBSUA pledges to provide technical assistance and guidance in LIWAD’s preparation and formulation of a strategic plan for Watershed Development through its Research and Extension Services Division, including goal-setting, data analysis or interpretation and recommends community intervention and programs for the development of a portion of the Palong Watershed area. CBSUA will also be responsible for training, technical consultations, and in establishing linkage with its network of livelihood partnerships–scientific researchers and experts. Also, CBSUA commits in assisting the monitoring, and evaluation of the LIWAD Watershed Development Program.

LIWAD commits to provide CBSUA with necessary data, including available information relevant to the realization of the intended outputs. LIWAD will also support CBSUA researchers by providing a designated office area, assistance during field visits, and logistical support for training and consultation activities in the upland communities covered by the project.
