CBSUA NSTP DELEGATES ATTEND NATIONAL CAPABILITY ENHANCEMENT TRAINING

The delegates of the CBSUA- National Service Training Program composed of CWTS Coordinator, Emilyn Mae C. Cernitchez, LTS Coordinator Ms. Christine N. Boncodin, and ROTC coordinator, Mr. Rene P. Perena, attended the 2-day National Capability Enhancement Training for NSTP Implementers and Educators with the theme: “NSTP and the Reservist in the New Normal and Beyond” at the Selah Pod Hotel in Pasay City on October 27-28, 2022.

The activity was hosted by the Philippine Society of NSTP Educators and Implementers (PSNEI), the Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST), and the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) in partnership with the Commission of Higher Education. A total of 147 SUC’s, HEIs and TVIs from different parts of the nation participated in the training. The keynote speaker of the activity was Senator Hon. Francis N. Tolentino who delivered his message via video.

The highlights of the activity were plenary talks and the workshop on the drafting of the Manual of Operations for the SBNU. The first topic on Day 1 was NSTP and Mobilization of Reservists in the New Normal and Beyond delivered by Atty. Frederick Mikhail I. Farolan, the Director IV of the Legal and Legislative Service (LLS) of CHED. The second plenary talk was on Directions and Updates on Basic ROTC in the New Normal and Beyond, where the participants were briefed by Col Samuel B Manzano, Deputy Commander, ARESCOM on behalf of Mgen Fernando V Felipe the ARESCOM Commander. The third speaker was the OIC- Chief Education Program Specialist of the LSAD, OSDS CHED Ms. Cynthia Q. Hernandez who discussed the Revised Minimum Learning Standards for NSTP 1 and 2. Before the day ended the participants were given an orientation for the workshop that would happen on Day 2.

Day 2 opened with a daily devotion and icebreakers. The first plenary talk for day 2 is for the topic on Operationalization of NSRC in the New Normal and Beyond being discussed by Ms. Sherleen L. Hombrenueno, RN., Training Specialist III of the Disaster Preparedness Service (Interim) of the OCD. The objective of the activity aimed to provide a forum for discussion of issues and concerns relative to NSTP implementation, operationalization of reserve units, and mobilization of reservists in the New Normal and beyond and to equip and capacitate the implementers and operators on the latest updates on NSTP, NSRC and CAF and to intensify appreciation and understanding on the value of NSTP and the Reservists programs in keeping with their mandates in relation to the full realization of National Services.
