CREATTURA CO. LTD., JAPAN LINKS WITH CBSUA TO PROMOTE SUSTAINABLE RICE FARMING

With the ultimate goal of having farmers practice sustainable rice farming, Creattura Co., Ltd., a Japanese company specializing in climate solutions, handpicked CBSUA, along with its experts, to be its implementing partner for a study on Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) water management technique tapping Pecuaria Development Cooperative, Inc. (PDCI) in Bula, Camarines Sur for the research site which was visited by the research team on April 3, 2023.

Mr. Marlex Tuson, a Creattura Co., Ltd. representative, paid a courtesy visit to the University President, Dr. Alberto N. Naperi, in the morning. He is accompanied by the Directors of OVPBEA, and faculties of CEFS and CANR who are part of the research team. They discussed matters, particularly concerning the responsibilities of the University in the project. Moreover, Mr. Tuson thanked the University President for accepting the partnership and showed interest in expanding their project with Vetiver and Cacao projects of the University.

In the afternoon, the research team went to PDCI in Bula, Camarines Sur, to meet the key officials of the cooperative. A round table discussion took place with all questions by the officials given answers by Mr. Tuson and the experts. After which, a site visit was conducted. The team surveyed and conducted an initial inspection of possible farming research sites ideal for the study. This also became an opportunity for the researchers to socialize and get first-hand information from the rice farmers.

The team once again convened to finalize matters regarding the conduct of the commencement of the project in the next month.

This undertaking is spearheaded by OVPBEA through the Institutional Linkages and Special Project Office (ILSPO), as part of the Project: Exploring new Realities on Education, Engineering, Economics, and Environment and Agriculture through Collaboration and Technology-driven initiatives (PROJECT: E-REEEEACH) for the Community.
