The Environmental Science Society (ESS), in partnership with the University Environmental Management Office (UEMO) and the Solid Waste Management Office (SWMO) Naga, was recognized by the Local Government Unit of Naga City for the successful implementation of its two-day clean-up drive, “Pulot-Kalat para ki Ina,” held during the Peñafrancia Festival.
The recognition was formally awarded on October 6, 2025, during the Flag Ceremony at Naga City Hall. Representing the organization were ESS President Jafet L. Estrella and ESS Adviser Nasser A. Posada, who received the award on behalf of the society.
The initiative mobilized student volunteers and partners in collecting a significant volume of waste along key festival areas, contributing to the maintenance of cleanliness and environmental sustainability throughout the celebration. The activity also provided valuable support to SWMO Naga in managing post-event waste and promoting responsible environmental practices.
ESS extends its gratitude to the College of Arts and Sciences Student Council (CAS-SC), faculty members, SWMO Naga, and UEMO, whose collaboration and dedication contributed to the success of the initiative.
This recognition highlights the impact of collective action in environmental conservation and reaffirms ESS’s commitment to fostering community engagement and ecological responsibility.| Photo courtesy of the Naga City Government Facebook Page.
