STAR SPEARHEADS SEMINAR ON SCIENCE TEACHING PEDAGOGY, ENVIRONMENTAL LEADERSHIP

The Science Teachers Active Regents (STAR) of the College of Development Education, in cooperation with the Supreme Student Council of Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA) – Pili and Biology Teachers Association of the Philippines (BIOTA), conducted the first-ever TUKLAS 2023, a Seminar on Lesson Planning and Teaching Pedagogy in Science and Empowering Science Teachers as Environmental Leaders, with the theme, “Transforming Science Education for a Sustainable Future: Empowering Pre-Service Science Teachers with Effective Lesson Planning, Pedagogy, and Environmental Leadership” on May 24, 2023 at the CBSUA LRV Student Atrium.

The one-day seminar aimed to provide pre-service science teachers with tools and knowledge in creating effective lesson plans, adopt modern teaching pedagogies in science education, and empower science teachers as environmental leaders and highlight their role in promoting environmental sustainability in their classrooms and beyond.

Students of the Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Science learned about the parts of a lesson plan and its models during Session 1: “Seminar on Lesson Planning” through the seminar’s first resource speaker Ms. Marian R. Cailao. The second session: “Teaching Pedagogy in Science”, was discussed by Mr. Wilson C. Cepe. The topic of the third session, “A Peep Through the Microworld: Basic Technique in Microscopy”, were explained by Ms. Katrina Gepilano and Ms. May Esquejo which simultaneously happened with the fourth session, “Let’s Bloom Together” by Ms. Shela V. Ruiz. Iriga City Councilor Hon. Angelica Paula P.
