The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), through the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR), conducted a two-day hands-on coaching and mentoring session on cooperative bookkeeping on September 4–5, 2026, at the Farmers Training Hall.
The activity focused on improving the bookkeeping and financial record management skills of cooperative officers assisted by Fundacion de Religioso Para la Salud (FRS). Participants worked on actual or sample cooperative transactions and records through demonstrations, guided exercises, coaching, output checking, peer sharing, and action planning.
Topics on the first day included bookkeeping fundamentals, source documents, recording of transactions, and journal and ledger preparation. The second day covered cash monitoring and reconciliation, preparation of basic financial reports, correction of common bookkeeping errors, and the development of a Cooperative Bookkeeping Improvement Action Plan.
Spearheaded by Fortunato M. Balbis, Jr., PhD, Project Leader and CANR Dean, the session was conducted under the Knowledge Advancement for Promoting Agricultural Technologies and Innovative Development to Rural Communities (KAPATID) Program, particularly its Organizational Development and Strengthening of Community Leaders component.
Faculty members from the Agricultural Economics Faculty supported the training, namely Rhener G. Bucad, Maria Victoria P. Balderas, Maria Theresa S. Agapito, Amy J. Sañosa, Murphy Cedric B. Quiapo, Princess Genetrix D. Tipones, Armie B. Rentoza, Abegail M. Vergara, Manilyn O. Babelonia, and Jasmin A. Olavides.
