Through the unceasing efforts of the CBSUA Faculty Union headed by Dr. Immaculate Falabi, Gender and Development Office led by Dr. Glenn Redecilla, Human Resource Office through Mr. Luigi Lorenzo Razal, and in partnership with DOH Region V Bicol Medical Center, a Cervical Cancer Awareness Orientation and HPV Screening was commendably conducted on July 15, 2022 at the CBSUA CND Hall.

The event started with the dispersal of a consent form among the female employees who are eligible to take the said screening, and distribution of free 750 ml hand sanitizers among all the participants. In his opening message, Atty. Dominador Faurillo, the Vice President for Administration and Finance, applauded the people who were behind the activity, and encouraged all the female employees to make the most out of the said initiative. Meanwhile, the speaker, Dr. Dinah Marion Brazal, a gynecologist and one of the consultants of the Regional Cancer Center of Bicol Medical Center, talked about the things women need to know about cervical cancer, its symptoms, the risk factors, and the ways women can prevent having the said illness. She also partly demonstrated the process of how the employees will do the self-sampling using the HPV test kit.

Consultation of the female employees with the medical experts, and sample collection were what happened next after Dr. Brazal’s discussion.
