The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), through its Taro Center, officially turned over One Thousand Fifty (1,050) taro planting materials to the Philippine Army (PA) on June 24, 2026, at the CBSUA Main Campus in San Jose, Pili, Camarines Sur. The planting materials will be distributed to beneficiaries of Project P.E.A.C.E. (Progress through Engagement in Agricultural Community Extension), an initiative led by the Agricultural Training Institute โ Regional Training Center V (ATI RTC V).
The turnover was facilitated by Almira R. Billones, Director of the CBSUA Taro Center, and Abigail V. Guinoo, Director of the Extension Services Division. The planting materials were formally received by 2LT Dionisio R. Sabolbora, Platoon Leader of the 2nd Platoon, 1st CMO Company, 9CMOBn, CMOR, PA, representing CPT Maria Angelica R. Ebuen (AGS) PA, Commanding Officer of the 1st CMOC, 9th CMOB, CMOR, PA.
The provision of taro planting materials forms part of CBSUAโs continuing commitment to agricultural development through the integration of extension services, technology transfer, and capacity-building initiatives. Beyond the distribution of quality planting materials, the University actively supports communities through training programs and technical assistance aimed at enhancing farmersโ knowledge and skills in sustainable taro production and management.
As a partner institution in Project P.E.A.C.E., CBSUA contributes not only tangible agricultural inputs but also research-based technologies and educational interventions designed to improve productivity, strengthen food security, and create livelihood opportunities for rural communities.
