CBSUA, ATI, PH ARMY HOLD TRAINING ON TARO, TURMERIC, AND STINGLESS BEES

The Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA), in partnership with the Agricultural Training Institute–Regional Training Center V (ATI-RTC V) and the Philippine Army, conducted a two-day Training on Sustainable Farming Practices for Taro, Turmeric, and Stingless Bees on April 28–29, 2026, in Concepcion Grande, Naga City.

The activity gathered beneficiaries of Project PEACE (Progress through Engagement in Agricultural Community Extension) for lectures and practical sessions focused on sustainable and climate-resilient farming practices.

Almira R. Billones, Director of the Taro Center, and Vena Y. Pajenago of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) discussed sustainable taro production systems and improved cultural management practices. Meanwhile, Johanna M. Cordial, Director of the Regional Apiculture Center (RAC), led the session on stingless bee biology and management, noting its role in pollination and income generation.

Leah Banasto-Sumalinog, Director of the Turmeric Center, facilitated turmeric production training, covering proper cultivation, processing methods, and the crop’s economic potential.

Officials from the Philippine Army, Engr. Joey A. Belarmino, ATI Center Director, and Abigail V. Guinoo, Director of the Extension Services Division of CBSUA, were present during the activity.
